As a direct result of the campus-wide network outage on Tuesday (07/20/04) and into Wednesday, a code upgrade will be done on select backbone switches on Thursday evening (07/22/04) at 7pm. During this 10-minute window, connectivity to the backbone may be sporadic or non-existent. If, after 7:15 or so, you still have connection problems, please contact the DoIT Help Desk (264-HELP).
We apologize for the short notice. It is expected this new code will address the current crop of instability issues with certain classes of switch gear, and prevent another large-scale outage such as the one that occurred on 7/20/2004.
