A phishing email was sent out recently to a number of people on campus that is disguised as an account security alert. If you receive this email, delete it immediately and do not click the link. Please continue reading for more information.

We have had reports that a phishing attempt has been sent to an unknown number of individuals at UW-Madison with the Subject: We noticed a login attempt to your account. The email asks you to verify your account password by clicking a link, which will take you to a replica of UW-Madison's NetID login page.

This email is NOT a legitimate security notice, and is instead an attempt to steal your NetID credentials. The body of the email is shown below (minus the link):

We noticed a login attempt to your WISC account from an unrecognized device on Fri, May 13, 2016.

As part of our Security Agreement we have place your account on "Limitation".

Please follow the link below to keep your WISC account safe:

Click to verify your account password

Thanks for taking these additional steps to keep your account safe.

Again, this is a phishing attempt, and the email should be deleted.
