Attempting to log into Outlook on the Web or access a variety of Office 365 services is currently producing errors.

Service has been restored as of 7 PM 01/13/17

When attempting to log into Outlook on the Web (via email.wisc.edu or the MyUW portal), users are receiving an array of browser errors, making log in not possible.

An example of a message that might appear:

502 Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /login/.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

There are two workarounds for this. If you'd like to continue to use Outlook on the Web, please try logging into outlook.com/wisc.edu with your NetID and password. The second workaround would be to use a desktop client, such as Outlook 2016 for Windows or Mac.

Other affected services include but are not limited to:

  • Report Spam and Doodle add-ins
  • Google login page for UW
  • Wisc Account Administration site
  • Email activation (such as for new NetID activations)
  • Web chat login
  • Web client login to Scheduling Assistant and ShareURL
  • Downloading Office suite from within Outlook on the Web

An outage has been created on the outages page. Updates will be made to this news item as more information is known.
