Starting sometime last week, we started to notice that the sender of a message was not receiving the message within their mailbox even though they are a member of the Office 365 Group and the group has been configured to send copies of messages to every member's mailbox.

Microsoft has been notified. Updates will be forthcoming as Microsoft provides them.

2/24/17 - status: Microsoft notified us with the following information - "A design change for this behavior is currently rolling out to all Office 365 customers around the world. The concept of getting a message sent to a group appear back in the Inbox of the sender is the wrong behavior, and we made a conscious design change to reduce the need for users to triage such mails again from their Inbox. We believe sending to users or a group should behave the exact same way and 'sent' items should be the way that users who need confirmation on whether the message got sent." We are not happy with this change and continue to discuss this with Microsoft.

If you are experiencing this issue, please contact the DoIT Help Desk so that we can track it and provide feedback as we get it from Microsoft.

Workaround

When sending a message to a group, make sure to include your address within the TO, CC, or BCC field.
