Apple Mail app not updating with Office 365 E-Mail

Users may experience issues with Apple Mail not updating with new O365 e-mail

While the DoIT Help Desk does not support Apple Mail for use with Office 365, we recognize that many on campus continue preferring this e-mail client when working on Macintosh computers. This information is provided as a courtesy to those users:
  • Some Apple Macintosh users may see Apple Mail stop synchronizing with Office 365
  • In some cases, updating the computer to OS 10.12 (OS X Sierra) has fixed the problem completely
  • A case with Microsoft has been opened by another campus institution; we are monitoring this situation closely and will provide updates as they arrive.
Here are some workarounds:
  • Update your computer to the latest OS X version (OS X Sierra, or 10.12)
  • Use Outlook Web Access
  • Use Outlook 2016 for Macintosh (or other supported client software: https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=30350)
