Terminated Employee Access Removal (TEAR) - Using the Authorization Look Up Tool
It is possible to review an employee's authorizations for certain systems via Terminated Employee Access Removal (TEAR), an application which allows for quicker removal of access to various systems when an employee leaves the University.
Accessing the Authorization Look Up tool
Login to TEAR and click the Authorization Look Up link in the menubar, as shown below.
Searching for an employee using the Authorization Look Up tool
To view an employee's current authorizations, you must search for them within the Authorization Look Up tool. You can search by either Login ID (i.e. three-character logon) or by the employee's Person ID, and you are restricted to viewing individuals within your UDDS.
Enter either the Login ID or Person ID and click Search.
Viewing an employee's authorizations
If your search is successful, you will see three sections displayed:
The Current Authorizations section lists authorizations associated with the employee. Note that TEAR does not include authorizations for every application or service on campus. The employee may have authorizations for additional applications not included in TEAR.
The user's Logon ID for each System should be listed, and the specific roles associated with the employee may be listed within the Access column depending on the system. The Last Logon date is also listed.
The Current and Previous Appointments section lists appointments that are associated with the Logon ID or Person ID for which you searched. Basic details about the employee's appointments are listed, including the beginning and end dates where applicable.
The Authorization Removal Requests section lists authorization removal requests that have been submitted previously for the employee in question.
