Safari (Mac) - Checking for a Proxy

This document describes how to check for a proxy in Safari for Mac OS X.

Note: The screenshots below are from Safari 10; however, the steps also apply to older versions of Safari.

  1. Open Safari.

  2. At the top left corner in the menu bar, click Safari.

  3. Then select Preferences

  4. Go to the Advanced tab.

  5.  Click on Change Settings....

    Change settings
  6. Under the Select a protocol to configure list, make sure that no boxes are checked (unless you are supposed to use a proxy). When all boxes are unchecked, your Mac is not using a proxy.

Select a protocol to configure menu
  7. If you have made any changes (e.g., checking or unchecking a box), make sure to click OK or Apply to implement and save them.
