UW-Madison Remote Desktop Service - Requesting Access to Licensed Software

Certain software available via the Remote Desktop Service requires the purchase of a license before it can be used. This document explains how to obtain access to these applications.

Titles currently available via the Remote Desktop Service that require a license for use:

  • Microsoft Project Standard 2013 and 2016
  • Microsoft Visio Standard 2013 and 2016

Licenses can be purchased via the Departmental Software Order Form. We recommend purchasing standard editions of Project and/or Visio 2024, as these will be installed in late October 2025. Until then, your 2024 version license will allow you to access the presently installed 2013 and 2016 versions.

Once a license has been purchased, contact support@doit.wisc.edu to request access to licensed software via the Remote Desktop Service. Please include documentation of your license purchase.
