Before you can start using the Bucky Backup Client, you must download, install and configure the client:

Note: This document assumes you have already registered for Bucky Backup. If you have not done that yet, please see: Bucky Backup - Getting Started.

1. Download the Bucky Backup Client

Download the Bucky Backup Client

1. Download the latest version of the Bucky Backup Client:

• Client for macOS 10.14x, 10.15x, macOS 11, macOS 12, macOS 13, and macOS 14

Install the Bucky Backup Client

To successfully start the installer you will need to right mouse click on the IBM Spectrum Protect.pkg. This will bring up a menu of options. Click Open.

1. You should now see a message asking if you are sure you want to open the installer. Click Open.

Install the Bucky Backup Client

1. Run the IBM Spectrum Protect.pkg installer. An installation wizard will launch.

2. At the Introduction section, click Continue.

3. After reading the Read Me section, click Continue.

4. After reading the Software License Agreement, click Continue.

5. Agree to the license

6. At the Installation Type section, you can choose a different install location by clicking Change Install Location, choose Customize to do a custom install of Bucky Backup, or simply click Install to accept the defaults.

7. You will be asked for your Mac OS X administrative username and password.

8. The install will begin. Once it has completed, click Close.

Configure the Bucky Backup Client for the First Time

1. Find the IBM Spectrum Protect folder on your computer. Usually located in your Applications folder.
   1. Note: If you are an existing user, make sure to find the new version you just installed.
2. If this is the first time Bucky Backup has run, you will be taken through the IBM Storage Protect Client Configuration Wizard.
   1. Note: If you already have a previous version of the software installed, your existing settings can be imported.
3. To start the configuration process, select the Help me configure the Client Options File, click Next on the Welcome to the Client Configuration Wizard.

4. At the Options File Task section, click Next to create a new options file.
   2. Note: If you are an existing Bucky Backup user, you can import from an existing options file.

5. At the IBM Storage Protect Client Node Name section, enter the Node Name you received via email when you registered for the Bucky Backup service. Click Next.

6. At the IBM Storage Protect Client/Server Communications section, choose TCP/IP and click Next.

7. At the TCP/IP Options section, enter your Bucky Backup Server Address and Port Number, which you received via email when you registered for the Bucky Backup service. Click Next.

8. You will have the option of modifying other settings, but please just accept the defaults for now and click Next at the Storage Protect Server Stanza, Include/Exclude List, and Common File Exclusion sections.

9. At the Confirm and Apply your configuration section, click Apply, then Finish.

1. In the IBM Storage Protect Manager, click Edit --> Client Preferences.

2. In the Authorization tab, choose the Password Generate radio button. Click OK.

3. Close the IBM Storage Protect Manager.
