Office 365 (Apple Mail) - Disabling Spam Filter
This document contains instructions on using a non-Microsoft email client, such as Apple Mail or Thunderbird. Microsoft does not recommend these clients for use with Office 365, and there are often significant limitations in client functionality as a result. Because of this, the DoIT Help Desk is only able to offer best effort support for these clients, and certain issues may require the use of a Microsoft client in order to be resolved. For more information on Office 365 client support, please see: Office 365 - Which clients/protocols will be supported?.Best Effort Support Only
Apple Mail provides built-in junk mail filters designed to keep spam out of your inbox. These spam filters are automatically enabled, however, Office 365 provides server side spam/phishing filtering which could conflict with client side filters. It is therefore recommended that you disable this function as soon as possible so that there are no mail delivery issues. This document will provide you step-by-step instructions on how to manually disable your spam filter.
Important: Making this change will affect every account configured within Apple Mail.
Manually Disable Your Spam Filters in Apple Mail
- Open Mail.
- Click on the Mail menu and select Preferences...
- Select the Junk Mail tab, uncheck Enable junk mail filtering, then close the window.
Your spam filter is now disabled.
