Microsoft released a compatibility pack for older versions of Microsoft Office that takes files created with the newer format of Office 2007 and converts them to the older version.

Before downloading and installing this program, you will need to make sure that your Office installation is up to date. To do this, go to the Help Menu and select "Check for Updates."

This should launch your default web browser and go to the Microsoft Office Online download center. Click on the "Office Update" link. This should then show which Office updates need to be installed.

Note: ActiveX may need to be installed in order to complete the above step.

Be sure to install all available updates

After this is complete, go to the Microsoft Website and follow the instructions to download and install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.
