PaperCut Mobile - Mac Laptops Defaulting to Paper Size A3

This KB will outline steps to take to change the paper size from A3 to desired size when using PaperCut Mobile on personal Mac laptops.

Simple Troubleshooting:

  1. Opening the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Select "Systems Settings".
  3. Click on "Printers & Scanners".
  4. Look for the "Default Paper Size Menu" in the settings window and click into it to choose "Letter for the Default Size".

If the previous step did not fix the issue then follow the steps below for more in depth troubleshooting:

  1. Open the Terminal and type in the command "cupsctl WebInterface=yes" and hit enter. You can then close the Terminal window.
  2. Open your web browser and go to the local address "http://localhost:631/printers/" which should show a list of your installed printers.
  3. Click on the PaperCut Mobility Print queue that is giving you trouble.
  4. Click the "Administration" drop-down menu near the top of the page.
  5. Select Set Default Options.
  6. Look for the Media Size dropdown menu and change it from A3 to Letter.
  7. A pop-up window may appear asking for a username and password. This username corresponds to your Mac account username.
    • You can find by opening System Settings then clicking Users & Groups. The password is the same password that you use when you turn on or wake up your Mac to open it.
  8. The default is not set to Letter and not A3.
