Commencement & Hooding Ceremony

University of Wisconsin commencement events are designed to honor graduates and their families and to celebrate graduates' accomplishments.

There are two ceremonies held for UW Law School graduates each spring:

  • The University of Wisconsin Law School Hooding Ceremony is often held on the Friday of UW-Madison Commencement Weekend at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. This special event is exclusively for UW Law School graduates and their guests. Information and updates can be found on the Law School’s Commencement page.
  • The UW-Madison Spring Commencement Ceremony is held on the Saturday of Commencement Weekend at Camp Randall Stadium. This event is open to all UW-Madison graduates. Details can be found on the UW Commencement website.

December and August Law School graduates may participate in the May ceremonies. Additionally, December graduates may participate in the UW-Madison Winter Commencement Ceremony at the Kohl Center, which is open to all UW-Madison graduates. Details can be found on the UW Commencement website.
