Livestreaming is back at the Mead Witter School of Music! Availability is limited at the present time, please be sure to complete your request early.

1. All streaming from the Hamel Music Center is managed by the School of Music facilities team. Performers are not allowed to stream from personal devices to personal channels.

2. Live streaming requests should be made at the time of the hall reservation in EMS and on the intake form.  A request for live streaming may be added to an existing hall reservation if made at least one month (4 weeks) prior to the performance. Requests made within the 4 week period preceding a performance will not be considered. Streaming requests not made at the time of hall reservation in EMS should be submitted to facilities@music.wisc.edu.

3. Requests for live streaming are subject to availability. Not all requests can be accommodated. It is highly recommended to request your live stream as early as possible. Approval of video service is at the sole discretion of the Facilities department, based on schedule availability. Denial of live streaming does not allow the performer to personally live stream their event. Approvals will be confirmed by email on an ongoing basis as requests are submitted, but not less than two weeks prior to an event.

Faculty may make requests for specific video elements, such as camera location, cuts & transitions, but all decisions pertaining to the video production are at the sole determination & discretion of the crew. An event can be streamed without a dress rehearsal, if the video is a simple front camera static view. If a dress rehearsal is requested, it must be arranged at a time suitable for video crew availability.

Student recitals will be streamed by the student crew. If a student requests video streaming or recording, they must have a dress rehearsal at a day/time acceptable to the crew. The dress rehearsal will be performed in the same order as the performance. Dress rehearsal is NOT time for students to workshop their repertoire with faculty; it is to run through the performance for the video crew. Students may make requests, but all decisions pertaining to the video production are at the sole determination & discretion of the crew, including cameras, cuts, positioning, etc.

A video recording is considered the same as live streaming due to similar staff requirements and processes, therefore video recording requests will be treated the same as a streaming request. All processes listed above apply equally to video recording and live streaming of events.
