The University has provided a list of all major observed holidays. The following should not be scheduled on major holidays:

1. Large ensemble rehearsals and performances

2. Faculty performances (solo and ensemble) 

3. Guest artist performances

4. Major events

All buildings on the UW-Madison campus are closed on official state holidays, including the Hamel Music Center. There can be no events or performances scheduled on official state holidays. Music faculty, faculty ensembles, and guest artists may schedule rehearsals during major holidays if space is available and the request is approved by the facilities director.  

Student recitals can be scheduled on major holidays if the Hamel Music Center is open, the facilities director approves the request, and crew is available to staff the recital. If all three conditions are not met, students may not schedule a recital on a major holiday.
