NetID - Account Utilities

This document outlines how to use the self-service tools to manage your NetID account.

Most NetID problems can be resolved without having to call the DoIT Help Desk. A series of NetID tools was created so that you can resolve your account issues quickly and easily.


Reset Password/Account Recovery

NetID Password Reset Tool

If you have forgotten your NetID or NetID Password, you can recover it using the tool linked above. See NetID Account Recovery (Password Reset) for more information.

Activate Account

NetID Account Activation Tool

If you have not activated your NetID account, you can do so using the link above. Detailed instructions for activating your account can be found at NetID - Activating Your Account.

Modify Account

NetID Modification Tool

If you wish to change your password, set a recovery email address, setup your password reset questions, or activate UW NetID services, you can modify your account using the link above. Detailed instructions can be found at NetID - Modify Your Account.

  • Change your password: Used when you know your current password, but want to change it for security or personal reasons.
  • Set a recovery email address and password reset questions: Used to easily reset your password in the event you forget it.
  • Activate UW services: Used when UW services need to be activated for use. Services like Office 365 or MyUW may become inactive if your affiliation changes or you return to the university after an absence. You can reactivate them using this tool.
