Office 365 - UW-Madison student licensing

This document will detail the policy for licensing University of Wisconsin-Madison students for Office 365.

Note: If you have specific questions about how you are currently being licensed, please contact the DoIT Help Desk.

Reasoning for the policy

The student license provides access to Microsoft Office and, potentially, other fee-based licensed software. The University of Wisconsin-Madison only funds this license for currently enrolled students (including enrolled in the next term) and currently employed faculty and staff.

Student license eligibility

A student is eligible for an Office 365 license through UW-Madison if any of the below apply:

  • The student is enrolled in the current academic term.
  • The student is enrolled in the next academic term.
  • The student is eligible to enroll in the next academic term.
  • The student applicant is INTD in the current academic term.
