Minutes for November 11, 2024

UC members present: Bernard-Donals, Jones, Kendall, Li, Stein, Zweibel

Chair Li called the meeting to order at 12:30 pm.

Jones motioned, and it was seconded and approved, to convene in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) and (f) to discuss committee appointments and a waiver at 12:30 pm. One tenure clock extension was approved. 

Bernard-Donals motioned, and it was seconded and approved, to reconvene in open session at 12:46 pm.

The minutes from November 4, 2024, meeting were approved by automatic consent with one correction.

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori Reesor said interviews were taking place for a student services position to support refugee students. They are hoping the person will begin in January. She indicated that with the meeting held with the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association that all terms of the agreement with Justice for Palestine that ended the encampment have been met.

There was a veterans program at the Union in the morning for Veterans Day. The Center for Interfaith Dialogue has a new map available with prayer spaces on campus. 

Bernard-Donals motioned, and it was seconded and approved, to convene in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(g) to confer with legal counsel regarding litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved at 1:34 pm. 

Jones motioned, and it was seconded and approved, to reconvene in open session at 2:48 pm.

The University Committee reviewed a draft senate agenda. This included a revised draft of the Committee on Disability Access and Inclusion functions and updated functions for the Campus Diversity and Climate Committee.

Li adjourned the meeting at 2:56 pm.
