Please refer to WCER Departmental VPN Instructions for connecting to the School of Education Departmental VPN.

Installing a network printer (NOT a Ricoh floor printer)

IMPORTANT: If you are adding a Ricoh floor printer, please see the document linked below:
Printing: Adding a Ricoh WCER network floor printer (Mac)

Select System Preferences (either from the  menu or the System Preferences icon down in the Dock). The System Preferences window will open. Select the ’Printers & Scanners” icon.

Select Printers & Scanners

On the left side of the resulting window, click the plus sign (+) to add a new printer.

Add printer

A new window will open titled "Add".

1) Select the “IP” tab within that window.

2) In the "Address" field, enter the fully qualified domain name of the printer you wish to add. For example, if you wish to add the printer named "Montreal", you would enter "wcermontreal.ad.edcucation.wisc.edu" within the field.

3) Change the drop-down "Protocol" menu value to "Line Printer Daemon - LPD"

4) Simplify the new printer’s name within the "Name" text field (e.g., Montreal). You may wish to enter the printer's room number in the Location text field, but this is optional.

5) Click the "Add" button.

Add printer

The next window lists the available options for the printer you have chosen. If your printer has a duplex unit, check the box that says 'duplex unit' and select 'ok'.
