Printing: Adding a RICOH WCER network printer to a Windows non domain PC laptop

WCER ricoh printer setup for Windows laptops.

You must have an active WCER or SoE network account to connect to the printers. If you do not have one, a request can be sent to to have one created for you.

You must be connected to the School of Education Departmental VPN or to a live Ethernet cable within a School of Education building (Education, Teacher Ed, Ed Sciences, or Henry Mall). Please refer to SoE WCER Departmental GlobalProtect VPN for connecting to the SoE WCER Departmental VPN.

Connect to a WCER Network Printer

Open the Control Panel.

Under the Hardware and Sound section select View devices and printers.

On the system bar at the top of the Devices and Printers window, select Add a printer.

In the Add Printer window, select The printer that I want isn't listed.

Select the radio button for Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.

Select Next.

Device type: Select the drop down menu and select TCP/IP Device.

Hostname or IP address: Enter For printername, enter the name of the printer you are installing. In the example above, Florence is the name of the printer so was entered.

Port name: This will automatically fill as you enter the hostname. DO NOT change what is completed here.

Check the box for Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use if this is not automatically checked.

Select Next.

Driver Installation

The printer will either automatically install the driver or ask you to select it from a list. If it automatically installs, please skip to the Driver Finalization section.

If this doesn't occur, determine the Manufacturer and Model of the printer you are installing. This is usually labelled on the front of the printer. You will need this for the install.

Select the Manufacturer of the printer.

Click "RICOH PS UniversalDriver V4.19

Select Next.

Note: If your printer model does not show up, you may need to select Windows Update to have it populate all of the drivers for all manufacturers in the Windows database. If the printer does not show up even after the Windows Update, the driver will have to be manually installed. Send a request to if you need assistance with this process.

Driver Finalization

Change the Printer name to a recognizable name such as "WCER Florence," or "Florence via dns ip"

Select Next. This will install the driver and printer.

Select the radio button for Do not share this printer.

Select Next.

You can configure this printer to be your default printer by checking the box for Set as the default printer.

Test the configuration by selecting Print a test page.

Note: DO NOT select this for color printers. Color printers will sometimes test with a full color picture page and waste a lot of ink or toner for this.

DO NOT print a test page for any of the Ricoh floor printers. A job code has not been entered yet so the printer will not let the job through and will generate an error message on the printer.

Select Finish.
