Adobe AI Credits

Adobe uses generative credits to track AI usage. This is attached to the user's account and can't be transferred.

Generative credits allow the use of generative AI features powered by Firefly in the applications to which you are entitled.

Our current facstaff license features:

  • 500 generative credits per month.
  • Generative credits do not roll over month to month - they must be used in the month or lost.
  • The credit refresh date is the 30th on each month. This means that your credit amount will be refreshed the day after.
  • We are licensed for standard generative features. Premium generative features are not available on our plan. You can see a breakdown of standard vs premium generative features at this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/generative-ai/generative-credits-faq.html#gen-ai-features-by-application
  • There is currently not a way to purchase additional credits per month. Adobe may offer this as an option or increase our plan's credits in the future.

Students who have access to Adobe through class requirements, as a student worker, or as a grad student have the same features.

Students without a paid license get access to 10 generative credits per month.

Adobe AI Features

Our license gives us access to standard generative features. Most features consume 1 credit. Premium features are not available under our license.

Adobe maintains a list of generative AI features (and additional credit cost if applicable) on this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/generative-ai/creative-cloud-generative-ai-features.html

Named Licensing

Any users covered under the facstaff or student program are using the named licensing model. This allows you to sign into your account on 2 computers. You can use Adobe software on 1 computer at once. They can be either UW-owned or personal. You can change which computers are authorized at any time - https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/licensing-activation/activate-deactivate-apps/install-apps-number-of-computers.html

Shared Device Licensing

For labs and other situations where multiple users may be using the same computer, you can also use the Shared Device Licensing model. More information on Shared Device Licensing can be found at this link: Adobe Shared Device License - Installation and Usage Instructions
