AppsAnywhere Overview

An overview for CAE's instance of AppsAnywhere

To contact the CAE Help Desk, you can email helpdesk@cae.wisc.edu or use the web form at https://www.cae.wisc.edu/contact/

AppsAnywhere has replaced Microsoft App-V as the method CAE uses to distribute many software packages to our lab computers.  Due to differences in the way the 2 services work, there are a few things to be aware of:

  • On login to CAE Windows Lab computers, the AppsAnywhere client will open.  Information on using it can be found below under "Using AppsAnywhere"

  • First time app launches:  For some applications, it will take some time for the software to fully launch the first time that day, occasionally up to a few minutes.  This is normal, and is AppsAnywhere downloading and caching the necessary data to run the software.

  • If an app is having issues launching or launches but doesn't seem to be working properly, there is a way to close the application, found below under "Troubleshooting"

  • If you find an issue and believe it should be added to this document, please email the CAE Help Desk at helpdesk@cae.wisc.edu
