Connecting to the WID VPN

Instructions for connecting to the WID VPN

If you HAVE used the UW VPN before, click here.

If you HAVE NOT used the UW VPN before, click here.

  1. Install the GlobalProtect client

    macOS
    Windows personal computer

    If you are installing Global Protect on a personal computer you can open the program Software Center to install it

  2. Open GlobalProtect and enter "wid.vpn.wisc.edu" in the box

    wid.vpn.wisc.edu

  3. Click Connect

  4. Enter your NetID and Password

When you see this window, it means you have successfully connected

  1. Open GlobalProtect and click the 3 bars in the top right of the window and select Settings

  2. Click the plus button

    click plus button

  3. Enter "wid.vpn.wisc.edu" into the box and click add

    type portal address

  4. Close the Settings window and open GlobalProtect

  5. Make sure that "wid.vpn.wisc.edu" is selected as the portal and click Connect

  6. Enter your NetID and Password

    NetID and password

When you see this window, it means you have successfully connected
