How to upload and record audio and place it in the Media Gallery in Canvas using an Android device. Due to the many different versions of Android and combinations of hardware manufacturers your screen may look somewhat different than the screens captured in this article.

As you create video content for your course, you may consider using your mobile phone to record yourself in the field or somewhere less formal than your office. Students have provided feedback that they appreciate seeing their instructor in an authentic environment; leveraging your mobile phone's camera is a great way to do that. This document will walk you through using your mobile phone to record and upload videos into your Kaltura MediaSpace account.

Download Canvas Teacher App
Download and install the Canvas Teacher app on your Android device from the Google Play Store. Most devices will have a Play Store app to search for and install the app.
After the Canvas Teacher app is installed, tap it to launch it.
Tap Find my school and type Madison. Scroll down and tap UW-Madison.
Log in with NetID and password.
Enter your Canvas course.

Select Kaltura Gallery from the course navigation
Select the + or + Add to Channel button to add video content to Kaltura Gallery. If you have media gallery playlists created, those will be displayed by default in the Home tab. You will need to tap the Home drop-down menu and select Media to see the + or + Add to Channel button.
Tap the Add New drop-down menu and tap Media Upload.
Agree to the Kaltura terms.

Scroll down and tap the Choose a file to upload button.
Tap either Camera or Camera Video to take a new photo or video or Files to select an existing video.
Files: Select the video you want to upload and select Choose.

We recommend you record video with your device oriented horizontally. Most students view course videos on computers with horizontal screens.
Take Photo or Video: Select Video to use the video recording feature. If you want to use the front-facing camera, select the source-swap button. Press the red dot record button to record the video. Press the same button to stop the recording. You can press the Play button to preview the clip. If you want to record the video, select Retake. Tap the checkmark Use Video button once you are happy with the video.

Provide a name for the video. The rest of the options are unnecessary for adding content to the Media Gallery in Canvas. Scroll down and tap Save.
