A change is coming to Kaltura Captioning. Beginning May 13, all new videos uploaded to Kaltura will be automatically processed through Kaltura’s speech recognition and auto-generate machine captioning.
Kaltura - Updates to captions coming May 13th, 2026
A change is coming to Kaltura Captioning on May 13th. All new videos uploaded to Kaltura starting on May 13th will be automatically processed through Kaltura’s speech recognition and auto-generate machine captioning. These auto-generated machine captions will be visible to all viewers and editable by the owner of the video. Additionally, this process is not retroactive, only videos added on or after May 13th will have this process automatically occur.
- What if I want older videos to be captioned? If you would like to have an older video processed through the machine captioning process, you can find information on how to order captions here.
- Do I need to opt into this process? No, this is an automatic service that will apply to any videos that are uploaded after May 13th.
- What if I wanted to make changes to the transcript/caption file? If you need to update the captions or make changes, please refer to this article on how to quickly make adjustments to a file.
