Denodo: Connect DBeaver to Denodo
Update DBeaver (Optional)
Before starting, please make sure that you are running the most current version of DBeaver.
You can check for updates by access the menu Help > Check for Updates. This is recommended to ensure you have the correct Denodo database connector.

Adding Denodo Connection
Below are the steps to set up your database connection for Denodo.
-
Connect to the UW GlobalProtect VPN or Campus Network.
-
Open DBeaver and select File > New and then choose Database Connection and click Next.

- Click ALL for the types of databases and then type Denodo in the input box at the top of the screen. Select the Denodo database connector.

- In the Connection Configuration, enter in the following information
1. Host: connect.data.wisc.edu
2. Port: 9999
3. Database/Schema: semantic
4. Username: your NetID email address
5. Password: your NetID password
6. Click "Test Connection"
7. If successful, click "OK"
- When using the "Test Connection" button, if the process validates, you have created a successful connection. You should see a dialog similar to this. Press the OK button, and then press the OK button on the Connection Configuration dialog.

- You can begin exploring the data in the database. Existing content has been organized into the following virtual databases (which appear as schema):
The following table describes each Virtual Database in Denodo and what the VDB contains. Virtual Database (VDB) Description EXT_IA InfoAccess data views. Views in this database mirror the existing structure of the InfoAccess, to look as they have historically. EXT_BDW Badger Data Warehouse (Snowflake) data views. Views in this database mirror the existing structure of the Badger Data Warehouse, to look as they have historically. EXT_EAP Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP) data views. Views in this database mirror the existing structure of the EAP, to look as they have historically. Semantic Reserved database for semantically structured views. New content created in Denodo will appear in this database, rather than the externally structured alternatives.
Note: Once you have formed the connection, you can rename it by right-clicking and selecting Rename on the connection name. Renaming the database to Denodo is suggested.
