Payroll: Entering Time in Workday

Employees are responsible for ensuring timely and accurate entry of their hours. It is best practice to enter your hours each time you work. The Mead Witter School of Music uses the timesheet option in Workday.

For detailed instructions, refer to the “Entering Time Using the Timesheet” section of the Enter Time in Workday guide.

  1. Sign into Workday.
  2. Hover over Personal in the sidebar and select Time
  3. In the Enter Time section, select the week for which you are entering time.
  4. After entering time for the week, select Review to look over the various time types and hours entered.
  5. Click Submit to finish entering time and move the hours to your supervisor for review.

Important Reminders

  • Timesheets must be submitted for each week of the pay period.
  • All time entries for the pay period must be submitted by the Sunday following the end of the pay period.
  • You will not be able to modify time on your timesheet while the payroll for that pay period is being processed.
  • You cannot enter time onto your timesheet for future payrolls.

Student Employees

  • Students at the Mead Witter School of Music can only work a total of 20 hours per week, all jobs combined. The University of Wisconsin-Madison allows students to work no more than 30 hours per week. Students may hold a job in another department, as long as the total number of hours for all combined work does not exceed 30 hours per week. Students are responsible for tracking their own hours.

  • If Workday isn’t allowing you to enter your time on the timesheet, please notify payroll@music.wisc.edu. This may be an issue if you hold multiple jobs and one of your jobs uses a time clock.

If you have any questions, please reach out to payroll@music.wisc.edu.
