UW-Madison Google Apps - What types of accounts are eligible?

Eligibility for UW-Madison Google Apps can only be granted to WiscMail/WiscCal or Office 365 accounts. The following document outlines the types of WiscMail/WiscCal and Office 365 accounts that are eligible for UW-Madison Google Apps.

Eligible Account Types

The following account types are eligible for UW-Madison Google Apps:
  1. All @wisc.edu accounts that are eligible for email and calendar

    • An individual must be eligible for a NetID in order to qualify for an @wisc.edu account. For more information about NetID eligibility, please review this document.

    • For @wisc.edu accounts with alternate addresses, these addresses will also be alternate addresses for the UW-Madison Google Apps account.

      • Example: If Bucky Badger's email address were bbadger@wisc.edu, he might have bucky.badger@wisc.edu and buckingham.badger@wisc.edu as alternate addresses

  2. WiscMail Plus user or role-based accounts in domains that have Google Apps enabled.

    • WiscMail Plus alias accounts do not have accounts in UW-Madison Google Apps. However, if the alias account forwards to a WiscMail, WiscMail Plus, or Office 365 account, it will be added as an alternate address on that account in Google Apps.

    • To find out if your WiscMail Plus account can access Google Apps, follow these instructions.

    • If you are a WiscMail Plus domain administrator and you want more information on how to enable Google Apps for your domain, please review the following document: Document 28140 is unavailable at this time.

    • Individual WiscMail Plus accounts cannot be enabled for Google Apps. Google Apps must be enabled for an entire domain.

    • If you want to be able to access Google Apps with a WiscMail Plus account, it must be linked to your NetID.

    • For more information about the different account types available in WiscMail Plus, see: WiscMail Plus - Available account types

  3. Office 365 service accounts in domains with Google Apps enabled

    • Individual Office 365 service accounts cannot be enabled for Google Apps. Google Apps must be enabled for an entire domain.

    • There are two ways to access UW-Madison Google Apps with an Office 365 service account:

      • Link the service account to your NetID.

      • Login directly using the service account credentials.

If your account is eligible for UW-Madison Google Apps, you can follow these instructions to log in.
