LabArchives: Getting Started
This document describes how to get approved to use LabArchives and links to helpful documentation about using the service.
For New Principal Investigators (PIs) Requesting Access:
If you are a new PI or lab leader who does not yet have a LabArchives notebook, please submit an access request through New Lab Request ELN Access – Electronic Laboratory Notebooks – UW–Madison
- In your request, include:
- Your name, NetID, and wisc.edu email address
- Your department or research unit
For Users Trying to Gain Access to an Existing Notebook:
-
Get Added by Your PI
The Principal Investigator (PI) or Notebook Owner of the LabArchives notebook must add you as a user. They can do this using the User Management tool within their LabArchives ELN account. -
Account Setup & Login (Crucial!)
Once added by your PI, you'll receive an email invitation. Accept this to create your LabArchives account. Always use your wisc.edu email (e.g., not departmental - i.e. medicine.wisc.edu).
You'll then sign in via UW-Madison's Single Sign-On (SSO) using your NetID and password. You can also log in directly from the "Current User Login" at eln.wisc.edu.
Note: If your PI hasn't added you yet, you won't see content when logging in. Your access is tied to an existing notebook; you cannot create a new, independent one without a PI's request. Exceptions can be made, just talk to the ELN Service Team.
-
Summer Interns
If you are a summer research intern-- your PI (or you) should notify us by submitting your NetID and indicating you're a summer intern--through the "Ask a Question" form at eln.wisc.edu. We will then provision your account
