WiscWeb - WordPress UW Theme - File Size Uploads to Media Library

This document outlines our general recommendations for uploading files into the Media Library in WiscWeb.

A good rule of thumb is to keep images below 300kb. Full-width images should never exceed 600kb. Additionally, you should consider adding image compression to our uploads and utilize HTML5 responsive image best practices.

In general, videos should never be hosted on WordPress. YouTube and other video services generate multiple versions of an uploaded video file at a variety of resolutions and then serve the file appropriate for the device size, connection speed, etc. You are encouraged to use YouTube, Vimeo, or Kaltura for video hosting.

While it is possible to upload PDFs to the Media Library, in general, we recommend that you host these files on Box.
