Course page - Overview

A guide on how to access the Course page and the basics of using it. This resource hub includes links to other guides that may be helpful.

The Course page is where you can view or edit the details of a course, such as its section number, the instructor assigned, the instruction mode, class time and location, and much more. 

To open a Course page, you must have Curriculum Management permissions, which can be set by your IPT administrator.

View or edit an existing course

You can access an existing Course page from either Academic Year Planning or Timetable Planning, which are both linked in the IPT navigation menu on the left. 

To open the Course page, select the specific course number you’d like to view or edit. It will be a blue hyperlink.

Note: Whether you are in Academic Year Planning or Timetable Planning, you must specifically select the course number link — if you select other links associated with the course, such as the instructor’s name, that will open the Instructor page rather than the Course page.

Course page actions

At the top and bottom of the Course page, there is an action bar with the following buttons: Save, Save and Notify, Cancel, Refresh Lists, and Go Back.

Save

To save any changes you’ve made to a course, select “Save.” It does not matter whether you use the Save button at the top or bottom of the page.

Save and Notify

You may select “Save and Notify” to send an email to the assigned instructor(s) notifying them of the changes made to the course. 

Use “Save and Notify” only when a significant change to Location & Time has been made to the course. Instructors do not see most IPT course data other than Location & Time. 

Refresh Lists

Select “Refresh Lists” when you’ve added a new funding string or instructor to the IPT system lists. Selecting “Refresh Lists” will update the dropdown lists on the Course page while holding any information you’ve already entered on the page.

Please note that selecting “Refresh Lists” does not save the information you’ve entered on the page.

Go Back

Select “Go Back” to return to the IPT page you came from without saving any changes you made on the Course page. “Go Back” is not always available on the Course page, depending on how you accessed it. When “Go Back” is not available, you can select “Cancel” to exit the Course page without saving any changes.

Cancel

Select “Cancel” to exit the Course page without saving any changes. You will not be returned to the IPT page you came from — instead, you will be taken to the Course List page. You must manually navigate back to the page you want using the IPT navigation menu on the left.
