Todo List for Graduating UW-Madison/InterPro Students

UW Email Service Options

Further Information about UW NetID Access, myUW, and other UW Systems Access

Starting in Fall 2014, UW graduates will now retain their UW NetID, and will be able to access a limited set of UW systems namely, InterPro Community & Support siteMyUW portal, and UW-Madison Office 365 Email/Calendaring. So is important for you to remember your UW NetID and password after graduation.

However, shortly after you graduate, you will lose access to some UW systems (i.e., UWBox, OneDrive, Campus Software Library, UW Libraries, etc.) The knowledge base pages under the todo list above provide important information in this regard.
It is best to update your contact information in myUW portal when you graduate and before your full service deactivations begin. However, alumni can use the links below to maintain their NetID and access.
If you are an InterPro alumni who:
1) graduated before 2014,
2) and none of the recovery tools worked for you,
2) and/or you no longer have an active UW NetID,

InterPro Community & Support Site

As a UW/InterPro alumni, you will continue to have access the InterPro Community & Support site. Alumni are encouraged to keep their profile up to date so you can stay connected with fellow alumni, students and the department.  Alumni connected through the Community site will be able to receive occasional professional development opportunities, and UW-Madison community information.
For alumni prior to Fall 2014 who have not yet requested a UW NetID from us, please read how to obtain a UW NetID to regain access to the InterPro Community & Support site, and to other UW-Madison alumni resources from the InterPro - Online Learning - Credit Learners - Technology Access for Alumni  page.

UW-Madison Learning Management System (LMS) Course Materials

The material maintained in the learning management system is available for approximately six months after the course has concluded, or at the instructor's discretion, which ever is sooner. Please be sure to copy any course files you would like to save onto your personal computer for permanent access BEFORE you lose access to the course site. Read our document for help with archiving your course materials.

UW-Madison College of Engineering Alumni Relations

Stay connected through the College of Engineering Alumni Relations.

UW-Madison Alumni Association

Consider joining the Wisconsin Alumni Association to stay connected to the alma mater and other UW Resources.

Library Resources

After graduation, there are a combination of options, but none of them give full access to the library resources that students have. Most of the database licenses are restricted to only registered students (and staff). After graduation, some UW library access will expire, but continue reading to learn about library resources available to UW-Madison alumni.

UW Alumni Database Access

Those who join the Wisconsin Alumni Association will have access to a few databases for which InterPro has signed special licenses: Proquest Research Library and ABI Inform. These are both very useful databases, but if looking for Engineering Village, IEEEXplore, or Knovel, they will not be found.

Public Libraries

Most Wisconsin residents have access to BadgerLink through the public library system. Other states have similar programs. Again, Engineering Village or IEEEXplore will not be found.
Interlibrary loan of books are also available through the public libraries. They can lend books through the same system as UW-Madison libraries. The WorldCat database can be used to identify what is available.

Live Near a University?

People who live near a university campus may be able to visit the library and use their databases. Do not hesitate to talk to librarians and ask them what is available. Universities have benefits for local communities. For example, local residents in Madison can borrow books from any UW-Madison campus library when they purchase an annual $30 card.

Fee-Based Services

An important option for alumni is fee-based library services. Wisconsin TechSearch is a fee-based service on the campus that has clients all over the U.S. Those clients are businesses that do not have their own library. They will often link users to publishers websites where the articles can be purchased. Time is money, and Wisconsin TechSearch can save a lot of time.
