Workday Contingency and Testing Plans

Contingency Plans

As part of our contingency planning for the upcoming Workday implementation, the Graduate School has prepared for potential delays in updating systems that rely on HRS (EPM) and Financial (SFMRT) data. Should our systems not be fully updated by the Workday go-live date of July 7, 2025, our sites and services will continue to function using the most recently available data, though some of that data may be outdated or "stale." We are committed to maintaining access and minimizing disruption during this transition. Because SIS is largely unaffected by the Workday transition, academic data consumed by services like the Graduate Portal should remain up-to-date. If you experience any issues accessing our sites or services, please contact the Graduate School Office of Information Technology at it@grad.wisc.edu for assistance.

Testing Plans

As part of our preparation for the Workday transition, the Graduate School Office of Information Technology is conducting system regression testing to ensure continued functionality and data accuracy across our applications. Regression testing is the process of re-running functional and non-functional tests to ensure that previously developed and tested software still performs as expected after changes. We are taking an incremental, manual approach to this testing—validating each section of code as it is redeveloped to replace direct connections to HRS (EPM) and Financial (SFMRT) data systems. This effort is being carried out in close collaboration with internal partners, including Academic Services, to ensure thorough and accurate testing. If you are interested in supporting these efforts or would like more information, please contact the Graduate School Office of Information Technology at it@grad.wisc.edu.
