Microsoft 365 - Getting Started with SharePoint Online

SharePoint Online is a cloud-based service that helps organizations share and manage content, knowledge, and applications. It connects you and your team to the content, information, and apps you rely on every day.

SharePoint Online is now enabled for all eligible users. Currently, we are only able to support Modern Site Templates and default configurations.

Important: The Office of Cybersecurity should be consulted before using SharePoint with any sensitive or restricted data. They can be contacted at rmc-cybersecurity@cio.wisc.edu.

How do I access SharePoint Online?

  1. Log into Outlook on the web.
  2. Click the App Launcher located at top left of your browser window.
  3. Select SharePoint.

How do I get support for SharePoint Online?

Support for SharePoint Online is handled via the DoIT Help Desk at help@doit.wisc.edu. Administrative requests and technical issues will be escalated to the Microsoft 365 Admins on the Productivity and Collaborative Solutions (PCS) team as appropriate. 

Are third party applications enabled/supported?

No

What can PCS (M365 Team) can do in regards to SharePoint Online?

  • Addressing account access questions or issues
  • System level changes in response to vendor actions (Feature additions and removals)
  • Site Storage quota adjustment requests
    • Default Storage for SharePoint Sites: 25GB
    • Maximum Storage for SharePoint Sites: 500GB
  • Other fixes necessary for the security and availability of the service
