eText & DLTs - Scheduled Update to Pearson, June 20, 2020

On Saturday, June 20, 2020 12:00AM CT - 8:00AM CT, Pearson will be updating several of their systems to improve performance and security.

This work is part of Pearson's monthly scheduled maintenance events. Engage pilot participants not using a Pearson DLT will be unaffected by this outage. Details about the work being done are below.

  1. MyLabs & Mastering: You and your students may experience intermittent issues when trying to log in to your courses for the first two hours of the maintenance window. This won’t affect you or your students if you access your MyLab and Mastering courses through Canvas. Course registration will not be impacted.
  2. Revel: You and your students will may experience intermittent connectivity issues accessing courses for the entire maintenance window. This impacts anyone accessing Revel content through a Learning Management System Canvas. MyVirtualChild for Revel users will see an error message (500 or Internal Server error) for one hour during the maintenance window.
  3. Enhanced Revel: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for the entire maintenance window.  When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work. Content downloaded to the mobile app before the maintenance begins will be available. Course registration will not be impacted.
  4. Pearson Writer: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for the entire maintenance window. When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work.
  5. StatCrunch: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for the entire maintenance window. When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work.
  6. eText: Instructors and students may experience intermittent connectivity issues for 30 minutes at some point in the maintenance window.
  7. Writing Solutions, Pearson Prep, MediaShare, Live Response, and Group Work:  You and your students may experience intermittent connectivity issues for 30 minutes at some point in the maintenance window.
  8. MyEnglishLab: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for approximately two hours during the maintenance window. When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work.
  9. Pearson English Portal: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for approximately two hours during the maintenance window. When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work.
  10. Higher Education Catalog: Work is being done on our higher education product catalog database. You will not be able to request supplemental course materials on the Pearson.com Instructor Resource Center.
Pearson will post in-product messages 72 hours prior to the May 23rd event. However, if you’ve integrated with Canvas, students will not see these alerts, and you should relay this message to them.
