Learn@UW was upgraded during the summer. Here is a list of many of the new features and a few known bugs.
New features include:
- New Course Builder tool. The Course Builder tool provides a new way for instructors to construct an outline or layout. Located in Edit Course, the Course Builder tool allows an instructor to drag and drop various components into a master outline of their course. More details and demo.
- Increased use of Profile images. If students have uploaded their picture to their Learn@UW profile, those images will now appear in the Classlist (where instructors can create a nice photo roster for printing or viewing) and in Discussion Forums next to their posts.
- New Manage Dates tool. This new tool allows instructors to quickly edit availability dates associated with content, quizzes, discussions, and more. Located in Edit Course, this tool gives instructors a time-saving way to update their Learn@UW course after copying material from a previous course. (Check out UW-Eau Claire's helpful tutorial.)
- Improved support for math. The Equation Editor located within the HTML editor now supports LaTeX and MathML and also includes a new Java-based Graphical Editor.
- Redesigned Navigation Bars. Underlying architecture has been updated to improve accessibility and remove frames. Instructors should check any customized links in the nav bar to ensure they are still working. Some links to items within the Learn@UW course might be broken and have to be edited.
- More Release Conditions to allow for better control over release of material based on time or students' actions.
- Updates to the ePortfolio system that UW-Madison is piloting this year. (If you are interested in learning more about the ePortfolio pilot, please contact the Learn@UW-Madison team.)
