What makes UW Health’s Ambulatory Care Residency Program unique?
We have opportunities for residents to complete rotations in both primary care and specialty clinics where pharmacists are adjusting, optimizing and monitoring medications under system-wide delegation protocols. Our residents are trained to practice independently in these areas, and there are layered learning experiences precepting students as well. Our ambulatory pharmacists are continually developing services and partnering with our community and mail service pharmacies to enhance patient care. Residents lead practice advancement initiatives and develop a skill set for service development.
What goals do you have for residents who complete your residency program?
It is our goal for residents to practice in a variety of settings to further confirm career aspirations during the course of our residency. Graduates of the PGY2 ambulatory care residency program at UW Health are prepared for success as a clinical ambulatory care pharmacist capable of leading and managing ambulatory care services within a health care system, along with board certification in ambulatory care.
What is your best advice for prospective residency candidates?
Wisconsin has a legacy of developing innovative leaders that transform pharmacy practice. If you are looking for a program that prioritizes patient-centered care and will support your clinical and leadership development, we would love to meet you!
