Real-time verification

KB content creators using the Internal view/External view preview can test and review visual KB features like document Headers and Footers, custom HTML styles, or integrated features like the LinkTopic tool (which replaces system tags with the actual title of the linked KB document).

Recruitment, Assessment, and Selection Plan

A document created by division HR in collaboration with division leadership, and approved by OHR which provides overall guidelines for recruitment, assessment and selection. It outlines the division’s expectations of specific steps, processes and requirements for recruitment, assessment and selection and identifies plans and procedures to increase diversity.

Recurring Appointments

When a temporary employee continues in the same position each year.

Regular Rate

The average hourly rate actually paid to the employee as straight time pay for all hours worked in the workweek or work period, including all remuneration for employment paid to, or on behalf of, the employee. An exception is any payment specifically excluded from the calculation of the regular rate under the FLSA and related federal regulations.

Remote Access

The specific ability for authorized users to securely log in and view, edit, or manage internal KB documentation and support articles from outside the institution's physical network or office environment.

Report

An administrative and analytics tool that tracks content performance, user engagement, and organizational efficiency. Reports monitor the lifecycle of knowledge assets, including article creation, updates, reviews, approvals, and deletions, while measuring usage through views, reads, ratings, likes, and unique visitors. These insights help identify valuable content, track productivity, and optimize the knowledge base.

Reportable Events

Refers to any submission that is not an initial, continuing or change of protocol.  Reportable events include noncompliance, new information, adverse events and unanticipated problems.

Resolved

This is an end state in ARROW.  Reportable events in this state have been acknowledged by the IRB, but no further action is needed and therefore, the reportable event is considered resolved.

Responsive Design

A design approach used in the KB System that automatically adjusts support articles, navigation menus, tables and search bars to fluidly fit any screen size or device.

REST API

A standardized web-based tool that allows campus developers to securely pull, share, or update KB data—such as technical help documents, user permissions, or site content—across external software applications.

Review Cycle

A scheduled routine used to check, update, and verify that published KB articles remain accurate and useful.

Reviewer

A user role responsible for checking, editing, and approving articles to ensure accuracy and quality before they are published.

Reviewer Notes

Reviewer Notes are notes made in an application by IRB staff. Reviewer notes labeled IRB Question require a response from the study team. Only IRB staff can create Reviewer Notes in ARROW.

Revision History

A built-in log that tracks every change, edit, and update made to a KB article over time.

Rich Text Editor (RTE)

A visual writing tool that lets you format KB articles like a standard word processor without using code. It is often called a WYSIWYG editor, which stands for "What You See Is What You Get".

Right-Angle fold

two folds at right angles to each other

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

A security framework that regulates access to KB content and functionality based on a user's assigned role, group membership, or administrative permissions. RBAC determines which document spaces, articles, and features a user can view, create, edit, approve, publish, or manage, helping ensure appropriate access, maintain content integrity, and support organizational security and compliance requirements.

Roles

Each user has at least one role assigned to them in ARROW. A user's current role appears in the gold box on the left side menu of the homepage. Some users will have multiple roles. Click the desired role under the My Roles text on the left side menu to change roles in the system. Be sure to select the correct role since different activities are available to users based on their role.

Rules

A feature in Office 365 which allows you to take some action when a message arrives into your account or when you are sending a message. Examples of potential actions include move/copy/delete, mark with a category/read/importance, or forward/redirect.
