Cisco Speechview Voicemail Transcription Request Forms and FAQ
Cisco Speechview FAQ
What is Cisco Speechview?
Cisco Speechview is a voicemail transcription service that is currently supported by the DoIT Unified Communications team. This service integrates with our current Cisco Unity voicemail system and is implemented on a per request basis.
How do I access the transcriptions provided by Cisco Speechview?
There are two methods in which one can access the voicemail transcriptions, the first is through the recipient's email address, and the second is through the Cisco Unity Web Inbox.
First Method - Email Transcriptions:
By default, the transcription service will send out two emails, one being the email containing the transcription of the voicemail left in the recipients voicemail inbox, and the other with a .wav audio file of the aforementioned email. Here are examples of the emails:
Second Method - Cisco Unity Web Inbox:
You may also access the voicemail transcriptions via the Cisco Unity Web Inbox. This method only works if you are using Speechview with a voicemail inbox tied to a personal account (netID), you will not be able to access this account if you are transcribing a general voicemail inbox.
To view the transcriptions in the web inbox, click on the message you would like to view the transcription for. The transcription will then appear below the message banner.
Here is an example of a transcription in the Cisco Unity Web Inbox:
How does Cisco Speechview address federal regulations regarding accessibility on campus?
An assessment done by the DoIT Center of User Experience concluded that the primary delivery source of Cisco Speechview (receiving transcriptions via email) is compliant with current accessibility regulations and future regulations that will be imposed on the University in 2026.
Regarding receiving transcriptions via the Cisco Unity Web Inbox, the DoIT Center of User Experience identified shortfalls of this delivery method. The Unified Communications team has forwarded this information to Cisco to bring attention to these shortcomings.
