Graduate Transfer Credit for Prior Coursework - Types of Transfer Credit

This document provides a summary of the graduate transfer credit course definitions and how it appears on a student's transcript.

Graduate Transfer Credit Definitions

Once you add transfer credit for prior coursework to a student's record, the credits will appear on a student's:

  • unofficial transcript,
  • official transcript and
  • student advisement report

To accomplish this, credits added via the Graduate Student Portal automatically export to the Student Information System. The credits appear as generic courses with the prefix: GEN ELCT. Each type of graduate transfer course has a number attached to the end of the prefix. The assigned number is based on specific attributes of the transfer course (see Table 1 for definitions).
