Accessing NameCoach Form for Commencement

This article only applies to the Doctoral, MFA, and Medical Professional Degree Candidates for the Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony.

Accessing the Form

Using the service NameCoach, you can create a pronunciation card to record the correct pronunciation of your name for Commencement. There are two ways you can access the form to set up your pronunciation card: via email and through the NameCoach website.
   

Email

  1. You will receive an email from no-reply@name-coach.com after you have been added to the Commencement list. 

  2. Select the link in the email that says record your name.
    Commencement email will contain a hyperlink titled "record your name". Select this link to access NameCoach.

  3. After selecting the link, you will be taken directly to the form. 

    1. If not, you will be presented with a list of courses you have been enrolled in. See step 3 in the next section for details on how to find the form from there.

NameCoach Website

Another way to access the form is by logging directly into NameCoach.

  1. Go to: https://it.wisc.edu/services/namecoach/ and click the Log in to NameCoach button
    Blue button titled "Log in to NameCoach"

  2. Log in with your NetID and password.

  3. Once the NameCoach page loads, find the UW-Madison Spring 2024 Commencement line.
    Namecoach displays a table with columns: "Name/Email", "Pronunciation Notes", "Name Recording", and "Edit Your Info". Under "edit your info", find "UW-Madison Spring 2024 Commencement" and select the "Edit Preferred recording" button immediately before it.

  4. Select Edit Preferred Recording
    Immediately before the "UW-Madison Spring 2024 Commencement" listing, there is a button you can select titled "Edit Preferred recording".

Understanding the Form

The form has a mixture of information and areas you need to fill out for Commencement.

Part one of the "Add your Preferred Recording for UW-Madison Spring 2024 Commencement" form. The form's fields are explained below.

  1. First/Middle/Last Names: These are all pulled from your records. These are informational only. 

  2. Full Name or your name as you would like it said/announced: This field is required for you to fill out. This is how you would like your name to appear on the name card for the name readers to announce as you cross the stage. 

Part two of the "Add your Preferred Recording for UW-Madison Spring 2024 Commencement" form. The form's fields are explained below.

  1. How your name will appear in the program: This is informational only. If you need this changed, please contact commence@chancellor.wisc.edu.

  2. Phonetic spelling of your name as you would like it said: This field is required for you to fill out. Please use this area to provide a phonetic spelling of your name for the name readers. More information on phonetic spellings.

  3. Name Recording: This field is required. Please take the time to record your name. This will help the speakers say your name. If you need more information on how to do this, please see the How to Record Your Name section of Namecoach - Recording Your Name [UW-Madison].
