Slate Notifications
How to manage your Slate notification email subscriptions:
- Navigate to the Notification Manager Portal.
- Use the toggle switches to turn on the notifications you wish to receive for each of your assigned programs.
- Once you've made your selections, close the window (there is no submission or confirmation button). If you return to the page, you will see your selections have been saved.
Overview
Slate Notifications allow query managers / graduate coordinators to subscribe to email notifications based on application activity. For example, if you wish to receive an email each time an applicant is admitted to your program by the Graduate School, you would want to subscribe to the Admit notification. There are currently 17 different notifications to which you can subscribe, which are defined and detailed below.
How to Manage Your Slate Notification Email Subscriptions:
- Navigate to the Notification Manager Portal.
- Use the toggle switches to turn on the notifications you wish to receive for each of your assigned programs. A blue toggle to the right means the notification has been turned on; a gray toggle to the left means the notification is off. For example, in screenshot below, the user has selected to receive notifications for the Awaiting Submission, Reentry Request, Admit, and GSAR notifications for the Agroecology MS program. (Please note: the GSAR request notification is permanently kept on for all query managers / graduate coordinators for all programs.)
- Once you've made your selections, just close the window (there is no submission or confirmation button). If you return to the page, you will see your notification settings have been saved.

To complete the GSAR form, follow these directions:

- Add the application to your queue by selecting the “Add to Queue” button in the bottom left of the screen.
- Select the “Review Form / Sent to Bin” button on the bottom right side of the screen.
- Fill out the Grad School Approval request form, which will appear in the right side panel. You will have to provide answers to two questions:
- What specific qualities or previous experiences does the student possess that will help them be successful in this program?
- How will the student be supported by the program?
- Send the completed form and the application to the GS Approval Request Submitted Bin, which sends the application to be reviewed by the Graduate School.

Please note that during the busy admissions season (December-April) it can take a few weeks for official English proficiency test scores to be matched with an applicant, especially if there are inconsistencies between the applicant’s personal information in the Graduate School application and the official test score. If you know of any of those inconsistencies (e.g., name change, incorrect birthdate, etc.), or if you believe this applicant has proved English proficiency through means other than an English proficiency test, please reach out to us at admissionstaff@grad.wisc.edu.
