OnCore: New Protocol Creation Flowchart
Decision tree for workflow based on OnCore library selection.

OnCore Protocol Creation
Protocol creation and library selection depend on whether the protocol is oncology-related.
Decision: Is the protocol oncology-related?
Oncology Path
- PRMC creates protocol.
- Non-oncology study teams that have an oncology-related protocol must submit a REDCap request form to the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) to begin the protocol creation process
- Protocol number is assigned by PRMC
- Library selected: Oncology Library
- This type of protocol needs a research group identified and needs CRA and PC Signoffs
- Staff will receive notifications programmed for Oncology studies
- Select Organizational Unit (OU).
- If OU is UWCCC
- Select research group
- Select UWCCC management group
- If OU is SMPH (outside UWCCC)
- Select research group
- Select management group(s)
- Select primary SMPH management group
- Organizational groups outside research groups may also be selected
- If OU is UWCCC
Non‑Oncology Path
- Study team creates protocol.
- Non-oncology study team members with Protocol edit permissions create new protocols within SMPH using OnCore: User Guide - Building OnCore Protocols.
- Do not create a new protocol in OnCore if it is cancer-related; instead, follow the Oncology Path above. For guidance on terms associated with cancer, refer to the OnCore Usage Decision Tree.
- Protocol number is applied automatically
- Non-oncology study team members with Protocol edit permissions create new protocols within SMPH using OnCore: User Guide - Building OnCore Protocols.
- Library selected: Non‑Oncology Library
- This type of protocol needs non-oncology signoffs completed
- Staff will receive notifications programmed for Non‑oncology studies
- Select Organizational Unit (OU): SMPH
- Select management group(s).
- Only SMPH management groups are available
