Platform R: Account Activation
Overview
Platform R uses UW-Madison NetIDs to provide login access.
Principal Investigators (PIs) and their students and collaborators must fill out the same initial form to request access. The PI approves access for their students and collaborators.
Everyone must date and sign the attestation of responsibilities. Once that form is complete, the Platform R team finishes account set-up.
Prerequisites
There are several requirements for accessing Platform R that are not directly covered by the request form. These have to be finished before Platform R access is granted.
- Everyone who needs access to Platform R should already have a NetID, and be set up to use Duo Multi-Factor Authentication.
- Everyone must have completed UW-Madison's HIPAA training.
- SMPH employees do this training yearly, but if you have lab members from outside SMPH, they will probably need to take the training.
- You can use https://apps.research.wisc.edu/TILT to check if your training is current.
- Students and collaborators who are not employees of SMPH might need to be given access to the training. The "General Training Requirement" document has contacts to request that access.
- While you can read data on your non-restricted Research Drive, the only way to get data out of Platform R is via a Restricted Research Drive.
- See ResearchDrive - Getting Started to apply for a Restricted Research Drive.
- If you already have a non-restricted Research Drive, you will need to provide a DoIT billing customer ID number for funding in case your total use across both restricted and non-restricted Research Drives exceeds the free limit.
