UW campus afternoon permits

Afternoon permits are valid from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday in any of these parking garages: lots 7, 16, 17, 20, 29, 34, 36, 67, 76, and 83.

Afternoon permits are also valid from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday in any of these additional surface lots: lots 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 18, 21, 30, 33, 44, 51, 78, 81, 85, 91 and 92.

UW Hospital afternoon permits

Lot 75 afternoon permits are only valid in Lot 75 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Valid dates

Base lot permits are valid from September 1 through August 31.

Parking locations and hours

Base lot permits are valid for lot-specific parking from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday. 

Base lot permits are also valid in alternate campus lots where UW permits are required for after-hours parking (4:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all-day Saturday and Sunday). These are the "yellow lots" on the campus parking map (PDF)

Exceptions

Business alternate parking permits

Valid dates

Business alternate permits are valid September 1 through August 31. Justification and approval from a unit transportation coordinator are required to apply for a business alternate permit.

Parking locations and hours

Business alternate permits provide parking access in a specific garage or surface lot from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Employees who must work at multiple locations on a regular basis may request a business alternate permit for access to a second campus parking lot if they are applying for (or have already received) an annual base lot permit.

Carpool permits are valid September 1 through August 31

Valid for lot-specific parking in lot 6, 7, 17, 29, 34, 36, 46, 60, or 76, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday

A90 construction permits are valid for dates approved by UW Transportation Services.

Valid from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, in designated locations at or near construction work zones.

Emeriti parking passes

Emeriti passes are valid July 1 through June 30.

Emeriti passes are valid in assigned Lot 6 (upper), 7, 17, 20, 29, 36, 46, 67, 76, 80, and 83. 

Passes are valid 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Emeriti passes are not valid when the “Lot Full” sign is lit up.

Flex parking permits

Valid dates

Flex permits are valid September 1 through August 31 

Parking locations and hours

Flex permits are available for pay-per-use, lot-specific parking in these lots from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday:

  • Flex Gated lots: 6, 7, 17, 29, 36, 38, 46, 67, 75, 76, 83, OR 95
  • Flex Surface lots: 2, 16, 34, 39, 41, 51, 59, 60, 64, 82, OR 91

Moped parking permits

Valid dates

Annual moped permits and annual accessible moped permits are valid September 1 through August 31.

Monthly (temporary) accessible moped permits are valid for two months with a physician's note, or for the duration equivalent to a temporary, state-issued disabled parking permit.

Parking locations and hours

Campus moped lots require lot-specific moped permits from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Residential moped lots require lot-specific moped permits from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Any moped permit is valid in all-access moped lots from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Annual accessible and temporary accessible moped permits are valid in moped stalls across campus.

Mopeds may not park more than 72 hours without moving unless authorized by UW Transportation Services.

Night garage permits are valid September 1 through August 31 

Parking locations and hours

UW campus night garage permits

Night garage permits are valid for lot-specific parking in UW campus parking lots 6, 7, 17, 20, 29, 36, 38, 46, 67, 76, 80, or 83.  Special approval is required in lots 23, 27, and 95.

Valid 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

UW Hospital night garage permits

Lot 75 night garage permits are valid in Lot 75 only from 4:30 p.m. - 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Park & ride and remote lot parking permits

Valid dates

Annual park & ride and remote lot permits are valid September 1 through August 31. 

Monthly park & ride and remote lot permits are valid on a month-to-month basis as determined by Transportation Services.

  • Lot 202 (Park and Wingra)
  • Lot 204 (3500 University Avenue)
  • Lot 206 (Aberg and Packers)

Permits are valid for parking during lot open hours. Overnight parking is not allowed.

Park & ride and remote lot permits are also valid for on-campus parking in lots where UW permits are required after hours (4:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday). These are the "yellow lots" on the campus parking map (PDF) 

Also visit the interactive campus map for lot locations. 

UW park and ride / remote lots are served by shuttles which run to and from the university campus and UW Hospital and Clinics.

Semester parking permits

Semester permits are valid: 

  • Fall semester: September 1 – December 31
  • Spring semester: January 1 – May 31

Semester permits may be available to graduate students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Semester permits are valid for lot-specific parking in Lot 67 or 76 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday

UW Accessible parking permits

Valid dates

Annual UW accessible permits, including accessible Flex and moped permits, are valid September 1 through August 31. 

Temporary UW Accessible permits, including temporary accessible moped permits, are valid for two months with a physician's note or for the length of time equivalent to a temporary disabled parking permit issued by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Valid parking locations and hours

UW accessible, Flex accessible, and temporary accessible permits are valid from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday through Sunday in UW Disabled stalls, Wi-DOT stalls, unreserved permit stalls, and ParkMobile stalls with a time limit of 30 minutes or more in parking lots across the UW-Madison campus.

Accessible moped and temporary accessible moped permits are valid in moped parking stalls across campus.
