How key dates and deadlines are determined

  • Auto matriculation begins: One week prior to the date enrollment begins.
  • Enrollment starts: Set by Registrar's Office; typically 10 weeks prior to the first day of classes.
  • Last day to recommend international students: 11 weeks prior to the first day of classes, usually a Monday. This is 3 weeks prior to the ISS deadline to accept new I-20 applications. The ISS deadline is due to the amount of processing time that is needed for visas and immigration documents.
  • ISS stops accepting new I-20 applications for students outside the country: 60 days before the first day of classes begins. For more deadlines related to international students, please refer to the ISS Becoming a Global Badger web page.
  • Application turned off (no new applications can be submitted): 3 weeks before classes begin, usually a Friday. Summer semester application is turned off 2 weeks before the beginning of the DHH session. You can find when the DHH session begins by visiting the Office of the Registrar's Session Dates web page.
  • ISS stops accepting applications for transfer I-20s: 15 days before the first day of classes.
  • Auto matriculation ends: First day of the following SIS term
  • Backdating and manual matriculation begins: First day of the following SIS term
  • New application for the next year's term turned on: First day of classes for that semester 1 year prior to it starting
  • First day of classes: Based on the Academic Calendar. For summer term, the first day of classes if based on the DHH 8-week session.
