Lumen Structures: How to add a joint degree/additional major at the graduate-level (MMAJ or DMAJ)
Master's (MS or MA) or doctoral (PhD) programs may be eligible to be offered as part of a joint degree but the associated SIS plan code (the MMAJ or DMAJ) is not created until there is a student who is interested in pursuing a joint degree. At the time a program identifies a student who wishes to pursue their program as a part of a joint degree the department should submit a Lumen Structures proposal to request the creation of the MMAJ or DMAJ plan code for the program. Once created the MMAJ or DMAJ is available for any subsequent student regardless of their original/home degree/major program.
Academic planning help
Joint degrees are reviewed and administratively approved by the Graduate School, and require UAPC approval (a consent agenda item). The code will be added in SIS for the next available term i.e. if approved at the June UAPC, will be effective fall.
