Zoom (Canvas Integration) - Using Zoom with Canvas Groups [UW-Madison]
The Canvas Zoom integration integrates with Canvas Groups in two ways: It lets you add one or more groups to a Zoom meeting room and it also allows you to create breakout rooms based on Canvas groups.
The latest update to the Canvas-Zoom integration allows Canvas Groups to sync with Zoom. The user interface looks a bit different from the previous one.

Adding Groups to a Meeting Room
You can restrict access to a Zoom meeting room to one or more Canvas group(s). This can be configured below the Topic field, beside the line line titled Add Groups.
- Select the text field beside Add Groups and Zoom will list all the groups in your Canvas course.

- Select which group(s) you want to be able to access this Zoom room. If no groups are selected, everyone in the course will have access to the Zoom room.
Breakout Rooms
You can create Zoom breakout rooms for groups in your Canvas course.
- Select the Breakout Room pre-assign checkbox under Meeting Options, then select Import Course Groups. This will pull in all your Canvas groups.

- Choose to assign breakout rooms based on the groups in the Canvas courses. You will be able to see which students are in which group/breakout room.

Auto-Record Known Issue
There is a Known Issue where the Record the Meeting Automatically setting is switched off when a non-student (instructor or admin) clicks on the Zoom meeting in a course. For more information, see Zoom in Canvas - Known Issue - Non-Students in a course affect "Auto Record" Setting [UW-Madison]
