On Saturday, July 18, 2020 12:00AM CT - 8:00AM CT, Pearson will be updating several of their systems to improve performance and security.

Learn@UW-Madison does not support Pearson products, but we recognize some university colleagues use these tools and wanted to provide this update. This work is part of Pearson's monthly scheduled maintenance events. Engage participants not using a Pearson DLT will be unaffected by this outage. Details about the work being done are below.

  1. MyLabs & Mastering: You and your students may experience isolated instances of login failures when accessing courses on all disciplines for the first two hours of the maintenance window, if accessing your courses by logging in through the MyLab and Mastering website.
    • This does not impact anyone accessing courses through Canvas.
    • Course registration will not be impacted.
    • MyVirtualChild for MLM users will see an error message (500 or Internal Server error) for one hour during the maintenance window. This impact will likely occur between 5:00-6:00 a.m. CT.
  2. Revel: You and your students may experience isolated instances of login failures or intermittent connectivity issues when accessing courses for the first two hours of the maintenance window.
    • This impacts anyone accessing Revel content through Canvas.

  3. Enhanced Revel: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for the entire maintenance window.
    • When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work.
    • Content downloaded to the mobile app before the maintenance begins will be available.
    • Course registration will not be impacted.
  4. StatCrunch: You and your students will be unable to access your courses for the entire maintenance window.
    • When you and your students attempt to access your courses, a splash page will appear with information about the maintenance work.
    • MathXL users will not be able to access StatCrunch Analyzer.
  5. eText and Learning Applications: Aida, Group Work, Learning Catalytics, Live Response, MediaShare, Pearson Prep, Pearson Writer, and Strategic Reader: At some point during the maintenance window, you and your students may experience intermittent connectivity issues for 30 minutes.

Pearson will post in-product messages 72 hours prior to the July 18th event. You can also find messages posted to Twitter, @PearsonSupport, and on the Pearson Support webpage.   Also, for your reference the full Planned Maintenance Schedule in 2020 has been posted to Pearson's Support web site.
