Communications - Brand Guidelines - How to refer to the Division of Extension

Official naming conventions for Extension and how to use them.

We are the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension. All first references to our name/logo must include “Madison.” This is not only because we are part of the Madison campus but also to reinforce the strong connections we have with the campus after our transition.

After establishing the official name, or for more informal references, UW-Madison Extension, Extension, or Extension [Name] County is acceptable.

As a reminder, we are no longer using “Cooperative” or its derivatives.

Please use:

  •     Extension
  •     Division of Extension
  •     UW-Madison Extension
  •     UW-Madison Division of Extension

Please DON'T use:

  •     UW-Extension
  •     Cooperative Extension
  •     UWEX
  •     UW-Ext
  •     Coop

County naming

For county names, we are using UW-Madison Extension [Name] County. This is to coincide with the new logo and connect our colleagues statewide.
